Workshop Focuses on Review and Analysis of the Functions and Structure of the Ministry of Health

Phnom Penh: On the morning of Wednesday, October 23, 2024, a significant workshop titled "Review and Analysis of Functions and Structure of the Ministry of Health" took place, attended by Dr. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, and chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Public Works, Hun Many, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the National Committee for Public Administration Reform.

In his welcoming remarks, Minister Chheang Ra articulated his strong commitment to the Royal Government's Public Administration Reform Program, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with the Ministry of Public Function. He stated, "The initiative to organize this workshop is an appropriate consideration to receive information, engage in discussions, exchange ideas, and receive guidance from Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many. It aims to strengthen cooperation on public administration reform within the Ministry of Health for even greater efficiency."

The Minister also highlighted that to effectively contribute to the government's reform agenda, the Ministry of Health has established three dedicated working groups: (1) the Public Administration Reform Working Group, (2) the Working Group on the Review of the Functions and Structure of the Ministry of Health, and (3) the Working Group for Updating the Structure and Data of Health Officials.

This workshop marks a critical step in the ongoing efforts to refine the operational framework and governance within the Ministry of Health. By fostering productive discussions and collaborations among key stakeholders, the initiative aims to ensure that the Ministry's functions and structure are aligned with the overarching goals of public administration reform.

The commitment displayed by the Ministry of Health in these discussions underscores the importance of adaptability and responsiveness in the public sector, ultimately aiming to improve service delivery and health outcomes for the Cambodian population.
